@SuhWeet12489 No problem

@holdendmb No, they can’t look out the side window b/c the car seat is in the way. They can’t see over the back of the seat either to see out the back window. We do sing along w/ them. Some of their car DVDs are sing alongs, like Row Row Row your boat, ABC’s, counting to 20, etc. They all have songs, and we participate w/ them. I suppose in the future your child will never be able to learn anything from a flickering box?

what is the name of Jace’s car seat and for how long can you keep her rear facing?
August 25th, 2010 on 11:12 pm
How did the seat inspection go?
August 25th, 2010 on 11:44 pm
@cassieconnell They have the same seat, Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL, for as long as possible
August 25th, 2010 on 11:44 pm
@raiay Great! We had to change a few things but overall it went well
August 26th, 2010 on 12:17 am
great! and it looks like Jacelyn has plenty of room to go rear-facing.
August 26th, 2010 on 12:25 am
@xxxjoelpolexxx Nope, as a matter of fact- if my daughter is going to learn anything it will be from me or her teachers, not a tv. Its a cop out to say the tv teaches your children. You use it for your convenience only. It keeps them quiet. They zone out and stare at it. I don’t use it as a baby sitter, and I don’t plan on it in the future either. You can be all high and mighty about breastfeeding and I’ll be all high and mighty about not sticking my kids in front of the tv. Deal?
August 26th, 2010 on 2:00 am
@raiay Yep!
August 26th, 2010 on 2:02 am
@holdendmb Nope, our children are NEVER quiet, ha. We use it as an aid for teaching to help grasp their attention, just like I use the computer & youtube. They never zone out or are they quiet. Youtube has a great ABC video that our daughter loves, we don’t just press play & walk off & let her zone out quietly to it. I sit w/ her and we sing it together & discuss it together. Nothing at all wrong w/ that.
August 26th, 2010 on 2:05 am
@holdendmb cont: We also Google Maps to teach our daughter the US Sates & Capitols. You can’t just show her a map on the computer & let her zone out quietly to it….it’s not possibly. I sit w/ her and use it as an aid & teach her each state, capitol and little facts about each state like state flower, etc. Again it might be a flickering box but there is nothing wrong w/ that, I just don’t want to spend a lot of money on a map when I can use one ONLINE for free
She’s 2 and knows some states.
August 26th, 2010 on 2:08 am
@holdendmb cont: If it wasn’t for the computer/tv there are some things that we just couldn’t teach her….we have a music DVD & it teaches the definition of pitch, frequency, notes, etc. We don’t have the tools needed to do this, but again we use it as an aid to help teach her. We do segments, discuss, talk together, it’s constant ME communicating & her listening & learning w/ me together…tv as an aid. again it might be a flickering box but nothing wrong w/ that and my 2 year old knows music.

omg people! Her kids watch tv, big deal. She is doing nothing wrong. My son watches your baby can read dvd all the time! Is that bad? No I don’t think so. Your a good mom.

@mandjandc I agree w/ them, it’s not healthy to watch a lot of TV BUT a “flickering box” has several POSITIVE” benefits if done/used properly. Some that a lot of parents don’t take into consideration

@holdendmb Just so you know I agree w/ you to an extent by all means it’s not healthy to just watch tv, but u have to do everything in moderation as well. Just wanted to point out there are some really great benefits if done properly that can be very positive for everyone.
August 27th, 2010 on 2:04 pm
@xxxjoelpolexxx Alright, I do agree that Jace is incredibly smart. She didn’t get that way by sitting in front of the tv. That comes from parent interaction. I don’t doubt that you interact with them when the tv is on. Moderation is key. And I know that you set boundries when it comes to their time watching it. I guess I just get fired up when I see kids in front of tv’s. But in your case you are doing it the “right” way.

i was wondering the same thing as raiai- are the units crash rated? im just curious how much force the buckle could withstand before it could let go. i think the tvs are a GREAT idea for kids im just curious if any of the players like this are rated for that.
August 27th, 2010 on 9:04 pm
@melz7777 I’m not sure, great question! LMK if u find out!

I love having our tv in our SUV. It the best thing ever. Marianna never fussed because of it. We play all her favorites when we leave and it helps with long trips.

@vmorales1984 It can be a big time life saver
